Gunner's 1st Birthday

Gunner's first birthday was the weekend prior to his actual turning one. And I did what all dads should do. 1) State very early on that any party should be small, simple, and intimate, 2) once you realize it will not be any of the things stated in #1, venomously object for one whole minute (don't short change yourself and go less than a minute or push your boundaries of exceeding it, hit your bullet points proudly), 3) realize that everything you just said in #2 was 100% ignored, 4) help out whenever and wherever asked without voicing or displaying a word or sign of aggravation or disapproval.

I would like to believe Gunner had a typical one year old birthday party so I don't have to feel like we were competing with Kim and Kanye in this regards. Western Theme decorations and costumes, check. Pony Rides, check. Hay bales for seats, check. Alcohol for the adults, check. Bounce house for older kids and drunk adults, check. Face painting, check. Large delicious cake, check. We had great weather, great turnout of friends and family, and some great fun. It was fantastic and my wife deserves a ton of credit!
